Moblogging

Image from AOL Pictures

Ha! If this works, then it is true -- there will be "mo-blogging" and less absences from being knee deep in "life" activities! Tonight I experiment from the kitchen table; tomorrow from who knows where! But what about inserting pictures? Does that work too? Only one way to know for sure, right? To make this entry crochet related, the photo I am including is of the Morehouse Farms store. We visited it after attending the NY Sheep & Wool festival a few weekends ago. What is sad about the picture is that the store is closing. They're moving their "store" (http://www.morehousefarm.com) to be solely online. Is this the new wave of buying yarn in the future?? Online only?? I hope not! What are your thoughts? Sent via BlackBerry by AT&T

I guess it's a good way for them to keep their costs down; however it's always sad when a LYS goes out of business in no longer having a physical shop to go to and ogle their wares and feel their fibers. Sometimes online you don't know what you're really in for, sometimes photos don't show the "true" color of what you're buying. It's not like you can go into a shop with a strand or two of something if you need to match and know you're getting what you paid for. Plus, I know when I shop online, I tend to buy only what I need, so I find that it's detrimental (from the seller's retail end) from an "impulse buy" standpoint because I'm less apt to go crazy and buy everything I want.  So I'm conflicted about this.

Maven, I heard today that another "local" shop is looking for a buyer ... hopefully the owner will find one and not go out of business.  If the shop were closer, I'd seriously consider it ...

My husband and I just returned from a long weekender in CT; and he had a brilliant idea of a B&B that caters to yarnaholics. Although that is a variant of a pipe dream of my own, of eventually having a B&B and raising some sheep, and doing the obvious with the sheep, and then offering afghans, roving and hand spun for sale in a unique gift shop in the B&B. I'm sure someone else will snap up this idea before me.
