We had our second Hooks and Needles Club meeting yesterday. 
My brother and I showed everyone our new crochet hooks. Then the school Principal came in and saw my brother's hook, she said she was amazed that a crochet hook can look like a baseball bat. My Mom invited her to crochet (and learn) with us. She said she might as it looked really interesting!
Right now our group has a goal of making crochet squares. My Mom printed out the shape of a square and it's our job to see if we can crochet squares to match the printed square. If we make enough squares we can then assemble them as a group and create a blanket to donate. We're not sure who it would go to. We're going to leave that decision up to our Student Council.
Well, that's it for the update for now. I've got to get ready for school.

Sounds like your group is doing great! Congrats to all - and especially to you and your brother for sharing crochet with all your friends. Can we see a closeup of the baseball hook? Maybe it would encourage other young men to go forth and crochet! Thanks for sharing your news.

I found it interesting that another little boy commented to my Dee Jr. that when he grows up he wants to be a surgeon. I replied, "Oh, that's great! You'll be a crocheter then -- they use crochet hooks in the medical field all the time!" He was interested in what my Dee Jr. was doing with that baseball crochet hook; unfortunately there wasn't enough time to "rope him in" to try it. Perhaps next time. {VBG}

So very proud of you, MiniDee! Congrats to MiniLois on learning her new skills quickly! Nine of you in the Club, eh? That is quite an impressive number for just starting out!!! I'm also proud to hear that your brother is in the Club too. I think it will help other boys realize that crochet isn't a "sissy" thing. Of course, when you have a totally cool hook in the shape of a baseball bat, helps! :)
I'm sure that there are many charities where your blanket can be donated and who will appreciate the love and care that you kids put into it. Kids like you, who are so giving of their time and hearts are what this world needs more of. I call you "Mini Angels"! :)
